There is good news for Hong Kong football fans, as they will be able to enjoy some Euro 2020 matches for free from next summer’s UEFA Championship. Now TV a Local pay-television operator from Hong Kong has secured the exclusive broadcasting rights to stream some of the live matches for free. According to the report, the broadcasting channel revealed that all 51 matches will be telecast live on its sports channels and also through its one-stop OTT entertainment platform “Now E”.
Apart from the Now TV, people from Hong Kong can enjoy some of the live matches through popular Viu TV, which is a free to air channel on the PCCW service. Now TV will disclose more details about Euro 2020 24 finalists draw segment as well as their kick-off times. Earlier too, Now TV came up with a similar broadcasting method to air some free matches from the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.
Euro 2020 tournament is the second most popular international football event after the World Cup, which will have 24 teams for the second time in history.
Euro 2020 matches are held across 12 different European cities as this time the event will be celebrated as the 60th birthday scheduled from June 12 to July 12th. Thus, Hong Kong fans will not have to stay up too late to enjoy the live stream of the matches, where the Azerbaijan capital of Baku holds the smallest time difference of four hours behind Hong Kong.
The city is also hosting several group matches alongside Saint Petersburg, which is the second-largest city of Russia with a time difference of four hours behind Hong Kong. The quarter-final matches of the Euro 2020 competition are hosted in the above two cities at 6 pm local time, which will be streamed live at 1 am in Hong Kong.
Three Semi-Final matches are staged at Wembley stadium in London at 9 am local time, where fans from Hong Kong have to stay up late till 4 am.
